Miguel? No, Rio? is a semi-autobiographical comic composed of a series of short stories—narrating humorous, and at times melodramatic, anecdotes from my life over the past few years. Given that my recent experiences can best be described as an unorganized, disjointed mess, I chose to reflect that chaos in the comic’s structure. There’s no overarching narrative; instead, it reads as a collection of standalone moments, much like the works of Junji Ito—fragmented, yet thematically tied. The original version was created as the final output for my Comics class, taught by Ms. Yuni Lao.
