Everybody, Nowhere, All at Once
Academic Project
Everybody, Nowhere, All at Once is an illustrated triptych I made as the final output for one of the classes I took under Sir Hidde Van Der Wal. Inspired by seek-and-find books such as Where’s Waldo which I enjoyed growing up, the piece depicts my room filled to the brim with different versions of myself from 2018 to 2023. The first section primarily represents the latter part of my SHS years, the second depicts the life I had during the pandemic, and the third shows the small yet eventful stay I had in college (onsite) up until the finishing of the piece. My life in that period of time can be characterized as an emotional rollercoaster–my self-esteem constantly in flux, and my mental health consistently inconsistent. I illustrated and finished the project during the most turbulent 6 months of my life thus far, making it a visual representation and reminder of the internal chaos I was experiencing at the time as well.
